Current Costa Rican Weather

The Nicoya Peninsula is the perfect vacation destination almost all-year-round! October is the only month to avoid because of heavy rainfall. Enjoy sunny skies from November to April and a mellow rainy season to follow.

The Dry Season

Locals refer to the dry season as summer and this is also the high season for tourism. While the Pacific side conveniently o ers a guarantee of sunshine, the northern hemisphere experiences its coldest and darkest days of the year. You can expect brilliant sunshine, day after day, from December until April on the Nicoya Peninsula.

The Green Season

It only rains occasionally during this season and mostly in the late afternoon or at night. The low season begins the week after Easter. Soon after, the first rainfall will occur, and the rainy season will begin. Native Costa Rican tourists and travellers from around the world love this season in particular because temperatures are pleasant, nature is lush and green, and the sunsets are breath-taking with beautiful multi-hued colours.

The Rainy Season

The real rainy months are September and October. It is sometimes di icult to get around during this season. However, this time can still be great for a vacation in Costa Rica! Many hotels and other tourist businesses are closed, so it's the least busy and touristic time of the year. The locals always have time for a chat, and nature has turned into a lush jungle full of orchids and bu erflies.
